Ron Paul Warned Us About 9/11

Three years before terrorists attacked... Ron Paul warned us of our interventionist policies...

"Our National Security is more jeopardized by permitting this to happen because we're liable to start a war. We're liable to have our military men killed. We're liable to have more attacks on us by terrorists."

In 2008, Ron Paul was the only Republican saying that we should not be invading countries in the middle east.

In the recent New Hampshire debate, it seems that other candidates are finally getting some idea that Ron Paul has been right all along.

Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal wrote: "Every candidate who was asked took issue with U.S. involvement in Libya. Michele Bachmann asserted no "American interests" were at stake: "We were not attacked. We were not threatened with attack." Newt Gingrich spoke of "fundamentally . . . reassessing our entire strategy in the region." Ron Paul said we should get our troops home. Tim Pawlenty nattered on about something, but even he didn't take an opportunity to ask for patience on Afghanistan. John Huntsman, who was not announced and not present at the debate, told CNN he has doubts about the cost of Afghanistan and the likelihood of U.S. success there...

A flurry of polls this week show the public is on the side of the new sobriety. CNN had 62% now opposing the war in Afghanistan, just 36% in favor. CBS News found 64% want the number of U.S. troops decreased, and 51% said the U.S. shouldn't be in Afghanistan at all. A Washington Post/ABC News poll said 54% of respondents feel the war has not been worth fighting, and 73% said the U.S. should withdraw combat forces this summer. A Rasmussen survey found a combined 56% who said the U.S. should withdraw from Afghanistan immediately or on a firm timetable, up four points since March."

Rather than these Johnny and Jenny-Come-Lately folks, why don't we vote for the real visionary? Why not Ron Paul?

This is an outrage... but why does this continue in the United States of America?

During his tenure in the United States Senate, Barack Obama co-sponsored the 2007 Senate version of the Freedom of Choice Act (S. 1173). Later, in a speech given to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund on July 17, 2007, Obama declared, "The first thing I'd do, as president, is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do."

While he still hasn't been able to push that wicked promise through, he has continued to promote the killing of the innocent children. As president, he has released millions of tax-payer dollars for abortions in the U.S. and in other countries. This is the legacy that his supporters embraced when they put in the Illinois state senator who worked diligently on four separate occasions to prevent newborn babies from receiving medical care that could have saved their lives. His record in opposition to the "Born Alive" legislation has, for years, made sure that babies born alive in Illinois after surviving an abortion attempt were tossed in a corner of the room and left to die.

In our culture of death, what is the difference between discarding a baby and allowing it to die with no care, no comfort, no medical attention, and killing the same baby with a pair of scissors? I agree with Bryan Fischer who said... "I submit that the president of the United States shares moral culpability for creating a climate in which this kind of Mayan-era butchery could take place. He too, just like Dr. Gosnell, has shown a 'disdain for the lives and health of ... infants.'"

Why is it so hard for some to believe the words of the Declaration of Independence...

"that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life..."

It took the help of President Obama and the United States, but the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) has gained official status at the U.N., which is an "important step forward for human rights," according to President Obama. While he may be deceiving Congress and the country at large, I will say this... Our President is consistently keeping promises to those who voted for him to usher in greater sin and debauchery into our country and world. He has, once again, circumvented the proper protocol and procedure in order to push a very unpopular policy.

Pentagon Disinvites Franklin Graham from Prayer Event

The U.S. Army on Thursday withdrew an invitation to a Franklin Graham because he has the audacity to speak the truth. In an interview last year with CNN, Graham said "true Islam" was too violent to be practiced in the United States.

"You can't beat your wife. You cannot murder your children if you think they've committed adultery or something like that, which they do practice in these other countries," he said.

"I don't agree with the teachings of Islam and I find it to be a very violent religion."

How dare anyone disagree with beating your wife? Who knows, they may soon have wife-beating awards to wear on the soldiers' chests... You go ARMY!

On April 5th, a historic walk began in Glennville, GA. Laura Belle Barnard, the first international missionary Free Will Baptists sent out, attended the Glennville FWB Church before leaving for India in 1935. The GO10 Walk for the World, a 2,500-mile walk that covers a route commemorating major events in Barnard’s life, began at this church. The purpose of this walk is to challenge youth to consider their role in reaching the nations with the Gospel in their generation.

Thanks to an anonymous donor this unique walk-a-thon has the potential to raise more than a million dollars to share the Gospel with those who have never heard it. So far there are 1,083 walkers registered and $225,451.19 donated online in this historic event.

Pray for Joe Wilson and volunteers who help him coordinate this event. Pray also for safety and health for those walking the different segments. Pray for walkers from Heritage FWB Church as we walk on May 27. The walk will end at the site of our national conference in Oklahoma City on July 20. Obama's Radical Recess Appointments

President Barack Obama is using the Congressional recess to make his wildest appointments. Two of these individuals are so radical they couldn't even be confirmed by a Democratic-controlled Senate. Obviously, there is no way we should condone such behavior by a President, but it's hard to not be impressed by his deviously silent maneuvering... Even to get beyond the very liberal Democrats as he continues to deliver on his promises to the homosexual activist community.

Lesbian activist, Chai Feldblum has been nominated to be commissioner for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She is for "superior rights for homosexuals," and which is very dangerous for our country." Speaking at a forum in 2004, Feldblum stated that "gay sex is morally good."

Andrea Lafferty has stated that "sexual liberty trumps religious liberty," she's opposed the Boy Scouts being able to determine who should be Scout leaders, and she also is the author of ENDA (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act), which is a bill that will force Christians and everybody to have to hire transgendered people.

President Obama Loved Biden's F-Bomb?

Great... The offices of our United States President and Vice President are getting more vulgar every day. In fact, if you ask Joe Biden, his use of foul language isn't a big deal to the President of the United States.

Apparently Joe Biden is "laughing off" his use of a profanity on the national stage as it was picked up by nearby live microphones. He used the "f-word" during the White House ceremony surrounding President Obama's signing of the Democratic healthcare reform bill.

After a his introduction of the president, Biden leaned into Obama and stated: "This is a big [expletive] deal." (View video report from Associated Press)

Now... Even worse... On Wednesday night in the vice president told supporters at a fundraiser that Obama was not upset by his use of profanity in the setting. According to the report, Biden quoted President Obama as saying he considered "Joe's comment" as the "best thing" about the nationally televised signing ceremony.

So these are the men who are our leaders? One would at least expect an apology.

NCAA Strikes Out Hate Speech

"The National Collegiate Athletic Association removed a Focus on the Family banner ad from one of its Web sites this week, NCAA spokesman Bob Williams said Wednesday.

The NCAA made the decision after some of its members - including faculty and athletic directors - expressed concern that the evangelical group’s stance against gay and lesbian relationships conflicted with the NCAA’s policy of inclusion regardless of sexual orientation, Williams said.

The ad in question was not about sexuality. It featured a father holding his son and the words, “All I want for my son is for him to grow up knowing how to do the right thing.” Like the Tebow ad, it included the address of Focus on the Family’s Web site and the slogan, “Celebrate Family. Celebrate Life.”

Focus on the Family spokesman Gary Schneeberger said that if such material were “all of a sudden labeled hate speech, we have deeper problems in our country than we even know.”"

What a hateful ad! This is only the beginning of the America's crack down on "hate speech." Need I say more?

Happy Pastor Appreciation Month! A wonderful present was given to our pastors yesterday as Congress passed legislation that will criminalize particular thoughts. If passed into law, it will be illegal to have a thought that any sexual orientation is wrong. It will be a federal offense to preach against any sexual orientation.

If signed into law, it will give pedophiles, voyeurs, and exhibitionists special protections, which is why the bill has correctly been called "The Pedophile Protection Act." In fact, during consideration of H.R. 1913, the Democrats made clear the intent not to define sexual orientation at all. In fact, they voted down (on party lines) an amendment offered by Rep. King to exclude pedophilia (sexual orientation toward a child) as a sexual orientation covered by the bill.

It's amazing that they are making up this "crisis." According to FBI data (Crime in the United States, 2006, and Hate Crime Statistics, 2006), anti-homosexual "hate crimes" account for a miniscule fraction of total crimes in the United States:

None of the recorded 17,034 murders that occurred in 2006 (0 percent) occurred as a result of "bias motivation" because of the sexual orientation of the victim.
None of the recorded 92,455 forcible rapes that occurred in 2006 (0 percent) were reported as being a result of bias motivation because of the victim's sexual orientation.
Of the recorded 860,853 aggravated assaults in 2006, 267 (.03 percent) were classified as bias motivation because of the victim's sexual orientation.

Also note that they attached this legislation to H.R. 2647, which is the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010" which will almost assuredly be passed. Yes, the purveyors of pedophilia are quite shrewd.

I have already contacted my Senators to vote against this bill will continue to pray that it does not become law. I urge my friends and all Christians to take action: Contact your Senators and please pray for our pastors.

Right There in the Middle

Brenda and I were so touched by the following letter from a mother of one of her former students, that I just had to share...

Last week, Zeke went to see the doctor for his kindergarten physical. During his exam, the doctor mentioned that she heard a slight heart murmur. Therefore, Zeke will have to go see a pediatric cardiologist to be tested to verify that the heart murmur is innocent. Josiah, my oldest son, had to undergo that testing when he was younger, so I was not as overly concerned this time around.

I began to explain to Zeke that he had to go into a machine that would take pictures of his heart and the doctors and nurses would look at the pictures. He then asked me, "Will they see God?" Not fully understanding what he was asking, I explained that "No, they won't see God. They will see the outside and top and bottom of your heart."

He then replied, "Yeah, I think He's in the middle."

I wanted to thank you for affirming... to Zeke that when he asked God into his heart, God was there right in the middle whether or not the doctors could see him. I pray you have had a blessed summer and that God continues to provide you with opportunities to teach this most important truth to many more children.

The latest onslaught on our children is by way of removing the "Conscience Clause" from the way that our medical personnel are allowed to do business. The "Conscience Clause" was passed by the U.S. Congress which required that hospitals not be penalized for failing to engage in abortion procedures. The legislation passed easily. But now, President Obama wants to require all medical professionals to participate in the destruction of children or face criminal charges.

Killer On the Loose

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl. Sycloria watched the baby "moving and making noises for approximately five minutes," according to an affidavit in support of Gonzalez's arrest warrant.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, Belkis Gonzalez, entered the room, used a pair of shears to cut the baby's umbilical cord, then "scooped up the baby and placed the live baby, placenta and afterbirth in a red plastic biohazard bag, which she sealed, and then threw bag and the baby in a trash can."

Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

After the outcry of many citizens throughout our country, authorities in Florida have finally filed charges against Belkis Gonzalez. She faces a second-degree felony count of unlicensed practice of a health care profession resulting in serious bodily injury and a third-degree felony count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, authorities said Tuesday.

She was arrested and taken into custody, prosecutors said. If convicted, she faces a minimum sentence of a year in jail.

It took less than nine hours for President Obama to put down

"that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."

It took less than nine hours for his staff to affirm that ALL DO NOT DESERVE A CHANCE. And to believe that I had hope in this president . . . I had prayed that he was an honest and truthful man. Even when many said "we will see," I really tried to believe him and trust him . . . But it took less than nine hours to dash all my hope for our children to get a fair chance.

Apparently, officials with the new administration have revealed that President Obama will repeal a ban on U.S. taxpayer funding of foreign abortions on his first day in office. World Net Daily reports: "Fed coffers to be opened for worldwide abortions."

I followed up on this and looked his "agenda" at www.whitehouse.gov to find that President Obama has already announced that he "will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Adminstration." (Note: Apparently in a hurry to get this published, his staff skipped the spell-checking and correction of Administration.)

How could the man be so bold to tell us that everyone deserves a chance and then so quickly turn around to destroy that chance for millions of Americans? I know that's what he had promised before the elections, but I was praying for a change of heart. I was praying for an ethical man of compassion . . . Not some monster who is salivating at the prospect of killing our children. Dear Lord, help us.

Obama Invokes God's Promise of Life

So begins the Obama legacy . . . I thank God for the words that our new President has chosen. I know that the words were carefully chosen and studied . . . They were not just spouted without thought. Those words have never rung truer than during this week: National Sanctity of Human Life Week.

I take this opportunity to thank our new President and to give him credit for great words. I am praying that this man follows through on his statement ALL DESERVE A CHANCE! I am praying that he has the courage to end abortion now and ensure that Americans actually DO have a chance. What a great day for the United States . . . Finally a president who will bring an end to the killing of pre-born children.

George W. Bush: Bible Not Literally True

We have seen it through his actions, have heard him mention it, but now George W. Bush has made it very clear that He DOES NOT hold the same Christian beliefs of many of his supporters. His interview on Nightline focused on his religious beliefs and interpretation of the Bible. Of course, anyone with an ounce of discernment should not have been surprised to hear him say that he does not take the Bible's words literally, that evolution and Christianity can co-exist, and that people of other religions probably pray to the same Supreme Being he claims to pray to.

During these last days of his Presidency, he seems to have given up on trying to pull the wool over Christian eyes, loosening his lips and his politically charged mindset enough to allow such devastating words to become public. His actions over the past eight years weren't enough for many to recognize that his words outlining peace and compassion were empty. His economic conservatism was exposed after our economy collapsed under his open wallet policies, now his social conservatism ploy is under scrutiny. In fact, now he's turning socialist as he's doing his best to governmentalize as many businesses as he can.

So, what are his Christian supporters saying now? Will any of them rebuke their "Christian" President for his apostasy? If they choose to back a man just because he CLAIMS to be a Christian, but does not act according to the Lord's values, why not support Barack Obama the same way? He claims to be a Christan. Why? He is a Democrat. You see, it's not principle; it's partisan politics that matters, after all.

Brenda's Gall

I am woefully behind on my blog posts and vow to eventually catch up and post pictures from Brenda's birthday trip and from Thanksgiving.

Today, I'm working from home as Brenda recovers from her surgery. On Sunday evening, she started feeling poorly. While she was apparently catching the flu-like virus that blessed whole family, her vomitting never subsided. At 2:00 Monday morning we headed down to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

After arriving at the hospital, the doctor ordered an ultrasound examination, where they found gall stones and apparent inflammation. Brenda was admitted to the hospital, awaiting an opening in the surgery schedule. She finally headed to surgery at 1:30 Monday morning. By 3:30, she had left the recovery room and was back into hers. Dr. King noted that the surgery went well, but was complicated by fatty tissue that was attached to the gall bladder. This tissue had to be removed via laser and will cause some additional pain and healing time.

Brenda is back home now and doing alright. She still needs help standing or getting out of bed, but is in good spirits. We have been SO BLESSED by friends and family who have visited, phoned, emailed, tweeted, and left comments on our facebooks. We are so thankful for all our friends and for the kindness of our Lord!

Stop Being USED by the Republicans

I am so tired of the Republicans USING Christians just for elections and never doing what they promised. For six years, they controlled the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court . . . And what did they do?

They raised our taxes, they increased federal regulations, they got us deeper and deeper in debt, and they did NOTHING to stop the killing of our children. Year after year Ron Paul, has proposed the Sanctity of Life Act four times and George W. Bush has never promoted the passage of a bill that would protect our children.

This bill, which unfortunately always died in committee, declares that: (1) human life shall be deemed to exist from conception, without regard to race, sex, age, health, defect, or condition of dependency; and (2) the term "person" shall include all such human life. Recognizes that each state has authority to protect the lives of unborn children residing in the jurisdiction of that state .

It further amends the federal judicial code to remove Supreme Court and district court jurisdiction to review cases arising out of any statute, ordinance, rule, regulation, or practice, or any act interpreting such a measure, on the grounds that such measure: (1) protects the rights of human persons between conception and birth; or (2) prohibits, limits, or regulates the performance of abortions or the provision of public funds, facilities, personnel, or other assistance for abortions.

Surely, no thinking Christian could possibly believe that the Republicans are going to change their ways. It is just another lie to get their vote. If elected, Chuck Baldwin will stop the killing of pre-born children. That is why I am praying for his success!

Lesser of Two Evils?

For several years, as my children can attest, we worked hard for the Republican party and for conservative American values that we cherished. We saw candidates who spoke with conviction about the God they served and the Bible they believed. Those men were easy to support.

As the years passed, I began to see the candidates change. The Biblical conviction was lacking and the public record of "doing the right thing" was thin. I started to see that the Republican candidates, in spite of much rhetoric, were a lot like the Democratic candidates. They were both headed the same direction on most issues. (Just one was going there faster than the other.) As I worked the polls, I also saw something else . . . Those voters who were once so happy to cast their vote, were leaving the polling place without any zeal or excitement about their candidate. The problem is, they were voting for "the lesser of two evils."

The right to vote is a great privilege, not to be taken lightly. A vote for a bad candidate is a vote that has been squandered. There are many issues which must be weighed; including the bailout failed business with our tax money, a time to bring our soldiers home, the protection of our countries borders, the use of our resources for the United Nations . . . But of highest importance to me is the saving of human life. I have reviewed the candidates, their positions, and their records. Their record and words speak very clearly. On the question of saving the children, I have three choices . . .

A man who will allow many children to be killed -
abortion for any reason.
A man who will allow some children to be killed-
some abortion and embryonic experiments.
A man who will protect all children -
ending legalized abortion.

I am accountable every opportunity made available to me. James 4:17 tells me that "one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." So I ask, is it right to vote for the man who will end abortion, or is it right to vote for one of the others who will not?

Chuck Baldwin is the man who will honor things which I know are true. While leaning that direction for a while, I became fully convinced this week when he was endorsed by Ron Paul for President. This year, I'm not choosing the lesser of two evils; I'm choosing Chuck Baldwin.

"Jesus, You are my best friend and You will always be. Nothing will ever change that. These lyrics from "My Best Friend" are absolutely true. No one has ever been so passionately in love with me, nor so head-over-heals desirous for a personal relationship. How amazing that He would do anything just to be with me!

One thing that I have learned is that we can often see characteristics of Jesus in others. For Christians, this is important, as we should be reflecting Him; being Jesus to the world. Maybe it's just the way the Lord has wired me, but I have found this especially true with children. I have seen so many characteristics of my friend Jesus in their lives and actions.

God has blessed me beyond anything that I could have even imagined through the lives of some very special friends of mine. I have seen Jesus in them . . . His joy . . . His passion . . . His enthusiasm . . . His concern . . . His humility . . . His gentleness . . . His unconditional love.

We recently received a wonderful gift from some of our young friends that blessed my heart so much that I could hardly stand it. A photo collection with notes and a wonderful video. The day it arrived, I sat on the front porch and just wept . . . Then I went inside, watched the video and wept again . . . Then Brenda got home, so I shared them with her and . . . yeah, you get the idea. In fact, I still get teary-eyed over them.

I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my best friends with you. They have been Jesus to me. I love them more than I can express and I always will. Mourning Losses and Giving Thanks

Yesterday, we went swimming in the Cascade Falls near Fall Creek Falls, TN. The weather was great and the water was refreshing. Sissy and Alissa swam with me; and Alissa adored the slide down the rock face into the water.

On the flip side, we are have a GREAT vacation. I have really enjoyed the time I've gotten to spend with my family. These memories will last forever. I am also very thankful for the restful morning schedule that allows me to spend time with the Lord on the deck with my Bible and a cup of coffee.

Matt and I had a great time on the golf course this morning. Stonehenge Golf Course is beautiful; and even though I'm a terrible golfer, I had a great time with my son-in-law.

God continues to bless me well beyond anything I deserve. I am so thankful to be able to serve Him. He has allowed me to place scriptures in several people's hands this week I know that His Word does not return void, and that it will accomplish the Lord's purposes in the lives it touches. Please pray for these that God has placed in my path.

Can God Use a Child?

A few days ago, I pulled out the riding lawn mower to cut the lawn. (Thanks for the gift, Greg!) Our granddaughter, Cassie, was here and wanted to ride along with me. I thought this was a great idea too; So I put her in the driver's seat, I sat on the back of the seat, and off we went! This was not a very comfortable ride for me, but I thought it would be great for our relationship and generally a lot of fun.

We started with the back yard which is not much more than converted woods with some grass. It has several pot holes, obstacles, trees and other challenges. Cassie screamed several times from the excitement which may have been coupled with fright, especially when we would cut a sharp corner or bank down the hill. It was clear that she was definitely getting a rush from the ride.

When we first started, I found that there were several times that Cassie exerted her will with the steering wheel. It was surprising what a little adrenaline could do to the strength of a three year-old. Unfortunately, she didn't have the same vantage point that I did. She couldn't see the obstacles and her maneuvers generally led to a rougher ride and caused us to miss the target. While she was wanting to help, many of her efforts actually inhibited our progress on the overall objective of getting the grass cut.

Eventually, Cassie learned to trust me more and to control the steering less. The ride got smoother, she was able to relax and enjoy herself more, and the job got accomplished quicker. We have had a couple of repeat performances and have always had a wonderful time. I believe that these simple pleasures will cherished by both of us for years to come.

Now how God used my three year-old granddaughter to teach me . . .

My Heavenly Father has placed me in the driver's seat and has allowed this rich fellowship so that His will is accomplished, but more importantly for my relationship with Him to be strengthened. The things that He wants accomplished on this earth would be simpler if He just did them Himself. But, this is the way God has chosen to work.

This life that He is guiding me through is filled with many obstacles. Often times, I try to take control, thinking that I know His will, only to find that it makes the ride rougher and can actually hinder God's plan. Sometimes I even try to take control simply because of my selfish desires. But as I have learned to know God, my trust in Him has grown. From the actions He takes, it's obvious that He has a much better vantage point and can steer me around the obstacles and dangers. Sometimes, the dangers must be taken on directly; but only as He directs for His purposes.

Oh Lord, thank you for your patience with me. Please help me to trust you completely and enjoy the life where you have placed me for your purposes. Help my relationship with you to grow and help me to cherish the times we have spent together until the time that we will be face to face.

My Redeemer Lives

Team Hoyt is a father (Dick Hoyt) and son (Rick Hoyt, b. 1962) in Massachusetts who compete together in marathons, triathlons, and other athletic endeavors. Rick has cerebral palsy, caused by loss of oxygen to his brain at birth because his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. Dick carries him in a special seat up front as they bike, pulls him in a special boat as they swim, and pushes him in a special wheelchair as they run.

Thanks to his parents, who ignored the advice of doctors that he would live life in a persistent vegetative state, and Tufts University engineers, who recognized that his sense of humor indicated intelligence; at the age of 12, Rick was able to learn how to use a special computer to communicate, using movements from his head. The first words he typed were, "Go Bruins!", and the family learned he was a sports fan. They entered their first race in 1977, a 5 mile benefit run for an injured lacrosse player who was a schoolmate of Rick's.

Dick is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard. Rick earned a college degree from Boston University in special education, and now works at Boston College. They continue to compete in races, and are also motivational speakers.

As of January 31, 2008, Team Hoyt had participated in a total of 958 events, including 224 Triathlons (6 of which were Ironman competitions), 20 Duathlons, and 65 Marathons, including 25 Boston Marathons.[1] They have also biked and run across the USA, in 1992 — a 3,735 mile journey that took them 45 days.

Their story is one of hope and encouragement, where others saw only sorrow and death. What vision Dick must have had for his son, and what a life he has provided. But don't let your minds rest there . . . As a child of the King, our Heavenly Father has done so much more for every Christian who ever lived. We were all dead . . . unable to help ourselves. We were unworthy, just as the enemy has said . . . we were not worth the effort and that only sorrow and pain would result from us. We would have remained dead . . . But Jesus, who loves us as no other could, has lifted us up . . . We are too weak to even walk on our own, but through Jesus we not only walk, but we run, we race, and we win! All we need to do is rely on Him and rest in His power. Indeed . . . I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me. YES . . . JESUS, my redeemer lives!.

God blessed us greatly . . . (I'm sensing a theme here, not trying to be redundant; it's just that God seems to keep piling on the blessings; so I would be remiss if I didn't pile on the praise . . . So PRAISE GOD!)

Anyway . . . God blessed us greatly during our Easter vacation. Keith, Mary, Sissy and Alissa drove from Millington to our home. Keith and Mary spent the night, the went ahead of us to Williamsburg. Alissa finally got to catch up with Cassie as they had a pajama party with Brenda and Sissy. (I got to sleep on my office floor.) After Saturday's egg hunt at Billy and Cindy's church and Easter service at our church, we headed to Williamsburg.

In Williamsburg I finally got in some "Papaw Time" with the girls while the big girls were shopping. We has a blast! All of us, including Keith and Mary, visited Jamestown. Sissy and I got in some good father-daughter roller-coaster time together! We had such a good trip. I thank God for blessing our family so much!

March 31 marks the third anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo. While Terri was indeed brain damaged, family members and friends still speak of meaningful interactions with her up to the point of her death. A death that was caused when our government would not protect her right to food and water. Terri starved to death and Senator Obama now speaks of his regret for allowing Congress to try to help her. God, help our country!

I had never really gave great thought to the term "Passion Week" or "Passion Play" until I became an avid reader of Ted Dekker. In several of his books, Ted reminds us of the amazingly passionate love that Jesus has for us. In Martyr's Song, Todd Agnew describes how our Lord has been waiting for that day when we finally go home to be with Him. I don't know about others, but I need these reminders of His love for me. Third Day used the song Just to Be With You to remind us of how Jesus gave His life away, even beyond our understanding, just so He could spend time with us. WOW!

Still, I find myself oscillating from self-absorption to self-abasement . . . Well both are wrong. I am humbled by the total passionate love that Jesus has for me. Indeed, He would do anything to have me by His side! This video extract from "The Passion of The Christ" is another reminder of His amazing love for us as we draw closer to Passion Week.

The Redskins announced their new head coach this weekend as Jim Zorn. I remember Zorn being an excellent quarterback around the time that I graduated high school. His favorite receiver of the day was Steve Largent.

I have always admired Joe Gibbs and his stand for Christ and was hoping that our new coach would also be an outspoken Christian man. Well I thank God for bringing Jim Zorn to Washington. In a testimony that he wrote in TheGoal.com: Jim Zorn, he states . . .

"My life with Christ has shown me that His truth is more important than my circumstances. God has said in His Word, the Bible, that I am a creation of His. I have value because He created me. Jim Zorn who, according to Bible Belt Blogger, regularly put a Bible verse on his autograph, is also active with Pro Athletes Outreach (PAO), who's vision is "To recruit and equip an army of coaches, professional athletes and their families to make a positive impact in the world for Jesus Christ."

So why am I a supporter of Ron Paul? Number one, Ron Paul is a Christian man. I should never vote to put someone who does not serve my Lord into power. It is wrong to attempt to put a server of Satan into power. I was reading, just this morning in Matthew where Jesus reminds us that "He who is not with Me is against Me."

For those who would recommend Mike Huckabee, I had to earnestly look into his record as governor of Arkansas. Not only did he move for taxpayers to pick up the bill for the children of illegal alien college funds, he NEVER did anything to stop one abortion. Both Huckabee and Paul have public records . . . Huckabee's shows no pro-life action, even though he was empowered . . . Ron Paul, however, introduced the Sanctity of Life Act four times.

This bill, which unfortunately always died in committee, declares that: (1) human life shall be deemed to exist from conception, without regard to race, sex, age, health, defect, or condition of dependency; and (2) the term "person" shall include all such human life. Recognizes that each state has authority to protect the lives of unborn children residing in the jurisdiction of that state .

It further amends the federal judicial code to remove Supreme Court and district court jurisdiction to review cases arising out of any statute, ordinance, rule, regulation, or practice, or any act interpreting such a measure, on the grounds that such measure: (1) protects the rights of human persons between conception and birth; or (2) prohibits, limits, or regulates the performance of abortions or the provision of public funds, facilities, personnel, or other assistance for abortions.

If elected, Ron Paul will stop the killing of pre-born children. That is why I am praying for his success!

Christmas 2007

I thank the Lord for a wonderful Christmas week! Brenda has always loved the snow, so I took her to Pennsylvania for a white Christmas. We spent most of the week there, where our daughter's family joined us. We had a great time sledding and watching the elk.

Then we loaded up and went home to our parents' homes in North Carolina. Brenda's high school class celebrated their thirtieth year with a reunion and we spent a few days with family. We thank god for time with family and a safe trip.

The Daily News Record and other news agencies have begun reporting that the Virginia GOP will be asking presidential primary voters to sign an oath that we will vote for the republican nominee next fall without exception.

This is TOTALLY MESSED UP! I am a conservative voter who loves my country in spite of some of the stupid things we do. In most of my local elections, I can usually find a republican candidate that I can support; but I haven't voted for a republican presidential candidate in years. This time, however, I would happily vote for Ron Paul and was planning on voting for him in the primary; but I cannot knowingly become a liar to vote for Ron Paul. I suppose I will show up at the polls and refuse to sign the oath . . . We will see if they will let me vote or not. (I think this is probably a ploy specifically to discourage Paul supporters, knowing that most who would vote for Paul are honest men and women.)

Free Will Baptist Bible College (FWBBC) has selected a 66-acre site in Gallatin on which to build a new campus, according to Relocation Consultant Colonel Mark Johnson. The site is a short 26-minute drive from the college’s current campus on West End Avenue. College officials signed a contract on November 19. Because of a confidentiality clause, terms of the contract (including purchase price) cannot be disclosed until all required city approvals have been obtained and the contract has been finalized.

President Matt Pinson said, “The Board and administration could not be more pleased with the purchase arrangements. We believe that we received an excellent price from the owner for this prime property on which to relocate. The confidentiality clause will be lifted as soon as the contract has closed, and we will share more details with our constituency.”

30th High School Reunion

Billy went down with me, as Brenda was busy with WAC Virginia activities. (Women Active for Christ) The events were great and I enjoyed seeing old friends more that I ever expected. We went to Awakening Fest on Saturday and had a GREAT time. The featured group was Toby Mac and they were really full of energy! While the music and the show were amazing, Toby continues to spread the Gospel and the message of God's love and faithfulness. One of Sissy's favorites, Irene (her middle name), encourages girls who have been abused in one way or another that God is always there for them and will hear their prayers.

Last weekend was big for Tar Heel basketball fans, even though the season does not start for another month. Friday, Coach Roy Williams was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

As a head coach, Williams has had seven 30 win seasons, has made five trips to the Final Four, and has one National Championship under his belt.

While I didn't play basketball, he was my freshman PE coach at Charles D. Owen High School in Swannanoa, NC. Before he became the head coach at Carolina, Williams coached at Kansas. Before that, he was an assistant at Carolina under Dean Smith, who is also enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Missouri Free WIll Baptist Mission to Panama

I thought this was a pretty neat slide show of a group of churches in Missouri working together on a mission trip to Panama. On July 29th 34 people from FWB churches in Lebanon, Hartville, and Buffalo left on a mission trip to Panama. The Lord provided opportunities for many things there; including construction, a Bible school, and activities with the youth. Please pray for the team and out missionaries in Panama. Branson - The Final Days

Well, it's Thursday night and everyone is in bed except me. We have had such a fun week . . . It has flown by . . . but with Brenda's scheduling is seems that there was hardly a stone in Branson that we've left unturned.

Yesterday we we went to Silver Dollar City for most of the day. We had a lot of fun, but it took its toll . . . so we slept in a little today. (I still got up at 7:00 am to work on the Wednesday night curriculum.) Then today we went to White Water . . . a local water park. Because of the nature of the water park, I didn't get nearly as many pictures, but did get my share.

I am going to miss Matt, Sissy, and Alissa so much. I long for the day that we won't have to say goodbye. Here are a few of the unedited pictures. I will try to get good ones online later.

I had a wonderful time on Monday (my 48th birthday) and today. Yesterday we all went fishing, then to Celebration City. Today was a little more relaxed which allowed me to spend some time with Alissa. The Lord has blessed me beyond anything I would have thought. I thank Him for a wonderful family! I am so shocked that I'm nearly speechless! I have been a huge Starbucks fan, drinking their coffee every work day, buying their mugs, and purchasing their beans for use at home. Well, NO MORE! I refuse to give another nickel to any company that would so blatantly defame my God. On their coffee cups, they have started their "the way i see it" series. The cups now feature, as they put it: "Sparking conversation . . . In the tradition of coffee houses everywhere, Starbucks has always supported a good, healthy discussion. To get people talking, “The Way I See It” is a collection of thoughts, opinions and expressions provided by notable figures that now appear on our widely shared cups." What did they put on the cup? . . .

"Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Cassie and Papaw's Day Out!

Jennifer M. Parcell of Mount Calvary FWB Church Killed in Iraq

Though the family does not know the details of what occurred, they were told Jennifer was searching Iraqi women for explosives and had been able to detect a bomber.

A memorial service will be held this week at Mount Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Aberdeen and burial will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens. Her maternal grandfather, Eugene Albert Parcell of West Virginia, will also be buried there. He died the day after his granddaughter was killed.

Please pray for the family of Jennifer Parcell and her church family in Mount Calvary FWB Church. Pray for the Lord's wisdom to Pastor Dennis Keen as he ministers to those grieving this loss.

Well . . . Another year of child killing has come and gone. I participated in my 16th straight March for Life. Once again, we prayed as we climbed Capitol Hill, that the Lord would forgive our nation and open the eyes of the politicians.

It is estimated that more than 46,000,000 surgical abortions have been performed in the U.S. That's an average of 1,300,000 babies killed annually through surgical abortion.

Then there are those killed by many contraceptive measures - abortifacients. (drugs that induce or cause abortions) We can't overlook the number of children killed by chemical abortions. Since 1965, an average of 11 million women have used abortifacient methods of birth control in the United States at any given time. Using formulas based on the way the birth control pill works, pharmacy experts project that about 14 million chemical abortions occur in the United States each year, giving a projected total of well in excess of 560 million chemical abortions between 1965 and 2005.

If you add up the estimated number of surgical and chemical abortions, the total is more than 600,000,000 babies killed in the United States alone!

IMPORTANT: Pray for Sally of North Carolina - A lady I met, today, who said that she probably was not on her way to Heaven. I was able to share the Gospel and give her a New Testament. Pray that the Lord moves in her life and draws her to Him.

Unity FWB Church in Flames

Authorities are investigating two fires and a break-in at three churches, all reported within an hour of each other, said Sunday they are looking into the possibility of arson in Greenville, NC. Unity Free Will Baptist Church had about $40,000 of damage, but Memorial Baptist lost more than half of their church. Oakmont Baptist Church, was the scene of an attempted break-in during the same time period. The NAACP is even monitoring the situation because the

Congress says: SHUT UP PEOPLE!

Apparently, the most important issue on capitol hill is to shut us up. While there is a lot of stuff to read, you can check out Senate Bill 1 yourself. It is supposed to address the high-dollar lobbing efforts, BUT it has a very dangerous component. This morning on Focus on the Family I first learned that a section of this bill is designed to stop grassroots political efforts. You can listen for yourself to several experts as they describe this very scary legislation.

CNS News confirms that this is an attempt to muzzle the people in violation of the freedom of speech granted by the constitution. It would impose huge penalties for anyone who would attempt to communicate on legislation to as few as 500 people. For instance, a church message or even this blog entry would become subject to a $100,000 fine.

We REALLY need to contact our senators before next Wednesday and get them to stop this. You can look up their information in the FRC Congressional Directory.

We traveled to North Carolina for Thanksgiving and spent time with both families. Billy came down and Matt/Sissy came from Memphis. PLUS . . . We had both granddaughters with us. We had a great time with our family and we definitely were well-fed. The Lord blessed us greatly during the trip. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Boiling Springs, SC whose church, Parkway Free Will Baptist, was robbed and vandalized yesterday. Pastor Mitch Edge estimated the cost of the burglary and cleanup at more than $10,000. The church averages about 200 people attending services on Sundays, he said, and the congregation will go on. "It won't stop our Christmas," he said. May the Lord use this for His glory!

There was a part of me that thought "I know this story and am not really that excited about a Hollywood version," but there was another part of me that thought "I should support an effort to make a decent movie." Brenda and I went to see "The Nativity Story" over the weekend and I am VERY glad we did! I was very impressed with the script that stayed true to the Bible. The movie did a very good job of portraying some of the obstacles that Joseph and Mary must have faced. I highly recommend this film, but it's not for the very young because of the violence when Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. I only saw two very minor depictions that may have deviated from the Gospel.

President George W. Bush is continuing his bait and switch tactics with American conservatives. Saying he is pro-life, and yet working so hard to kill more children than any U.S. President in history. Yesterday, he affirmed that he supports the "Plan B" (morning after pill) for sale without a prescription. This drug, approved in 1999, is designed to be used within 72 hours after unprotected sex, stops the production of eggs in the mother, and then assists in the abortion the fertilized egg if one already exists.

While Family News In Focus and other folks are shocked, they really shouldn't be. It was under Bush's watch that this drug was approved in the first place. Then in 2000, the abortion drug RU-486 was approved. Why should anyone be surprised that this man would want to get this into the hands of as many women as possible? In the article, "President's Endorsement of Plan B Shocks Pro-Life Camp," they do make one good observation . . . "any over the counter sale of the drug will put young girls at risk." Thank you Mr. Bush.

July Weekend in Millington

Brenda and I traveled to Birmingham for the National Association of Free Will Baptists Convention. We had a great time as the Lord blessed the services, the seminars, the meetings, and all the events. We were excited to see many friends again and enjoyed every minute with them.

Following Birmingham, we traveled to Millington, TN to spend a few days with Matt, Sissy, and Alyssa. Our granddaughter, now six months old, is such a blessing. I would have tried to bring her with me, but I don't think her mom and dad would have appreciated that. 8-) Have fun looking at a few pictures from our trip!

New Heights Children's Ministry

Praise God for His wonderful blessings during Vacation Bible School at New Heights! We had a great week with about 60 - 65 children each night. Best of all, we saw 25 children accept the Lord as their Savior!!! Now, we really need to follow-up with the families. Praise God for such "problems."

The material that we used from Group Publishing was terrific and I highly recommend it for others. One of the things that was new for us, and worked very well was the mixed age groups. Rather than small groups of similar ages, they recommended mixed groups. For instance, a group of six children should have one of each grade (1-6) and be mixed of boys and girls. We found this to work very well and have continued the practice for our mid-week program.

I would also like to Praise God for our new mid-week children's program. We have twenty-five attending so far and seven adults who have been blessed by the Lord to help with the children. We just finished our third week and things are starting to take shape very well. God is so good!

Old and New Friends

During our Easter reunion, we had the opportunity to visit our friends, David and Marian Reece. It was so wonderful to have the whole family together as we entered the church in Limestone, TN. The Easter service included the "resurrection" of an old rugged cross as each person walked by and placed a fresh flower on the cross.

After the service, we took part in one of our favorite pastimes . . . LUNCH!

David, Marian, Sherry, Kevin, Jonathan, Sandy, and Ethan and our families joined at the BIG table as we enjoyed each other's company. Afterward we had a blessed afternoon at David & Marian's.

The mini-reuinion was as much fun than you would imagine. As we left, however, Marian held us hostage until Billy would sing a song. We had a great time!

Easter week was more blessing than we could hardly stand. We met in Sevierville, TN for our very first family reunion. I can't thank God enough for His rich blessings. Matt, Sissy, and Alissa came from Memphis with the help of our great in-laws, Keith and Mary. Billy, Cindy, Chris, Collin, and Cassie came down from Spotsylvania. Then my brother Will and his family came in from Old Fort, NC.

We had so much fun and the Lord provided so much more than we deserved! I have posted some of the pictures and will add more later. Please pray for Mom who just went through surgery - she and Dad were unable to come. Also pray for Brenda's Dad who has a skin problem which kept him and Sharon away.

President Bush Opposes South Dakota Law Banning Abortion

The White House has announced that they do not support the best legislature that we have seen an many years. This new law was signed this week in South Dakota banning nearly all abortions. We thank God for these folks and continue to pray for them. However, our President does not support the law. Scott McClellan, the President's principal spokesman, stated that Mr. Bush supports abortion in three cases - rape, incest, and the life of the mother. So, Mr. Bush WHY should innocent life be taken? Just because a tragedy occurred to her mother, why should the baby lose it's life?

Just what is His stand on abortion? Here are his own words about this topic on March 1, during an interview with ABC News . . .

VARGAS: Finally, Mr. President, one last question. Just a few days ago, the legislature in South Dakota passed the most restrictive abortion law in this country with the intention, they say, of getting that all the way to the Supreme Court. They would like the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Will your administration file a friend of the court brief on that?

BUSH: I haven't paid attention to that, to this particular issue you're talking about. I can tell you I will put people on the Court without a litmus test. In other words, I haven't said to these judges, you know, "Give me your opinion on this case if it would be coming your way." And, you know, their job is to strictly interpret the Constitution.

So I am not going to prejudge how the Supreme Court is going to judge a particular issue.

VARGAS: This law would outlaw abortion except when a mother's life was at stake. The life was at stake, not health. Would you support that kind of law being the law of the land?

BUSH: Well, that, of course, is a state law, but my position has always been three exceptions: rape, incest and the life of the mother.

VARGAS: Rape and incest you would include?

BUSH: Yeah.

VARGAS: What about health?

BUSH: Well, health is, you know, the life of the mother is how I view health.

VARGAS: So you would lump that together. It doesn't have to be she's going to die if she doesn't get this abortion.

South Dakota Governor Signs Abortion Ban
Praise God! The governor of South Dakota, Mike Rounds, signed today a bill intended to ban most abortions in the state and to set up a challenge to the United States Supreme Court decision, handed down in 1973, that legalized abortion in all states. The law would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless it was necessary to save the woman's life, with no exception for cases of rape or incest.

It's about time . . . please, please, please continue in prayer for our country. Pray for God's will to be don in the courts as they take up the new law. Pray for the conviction of Truth to weigh heavily on their hearts and minds. Pray for our children! Thank God for these people in South Dakota who aren't afraid to take a stand for these children.

Supreme Court Backs Abortion Protesters

A 20-year-old legal fight over protests outside abortion clinics ended Tuesday with the Supreme Court ruling 8-0 that federal extortion and racketeering laws cannot be used against demonstrators. Praise God for this small victory!

One thing of note is the President's lack of interest in abortion legislation. South Dakota is on the verge of final approval outlawing abortion . . . the very thing that we have been praying for. This is one of the most important events in U.S. history and could save the lives of millions of babies. All of America is watching and we have been praying for these children for years. But our president says that he has not "paid attention to that!"

This continues to emphasize the fact that Mr. Bush is not pro-life. Not only does he not pay attention to the most important legislation in years, he slaps the pre-born children in the face again. "My position has always been three exceptions: rape, incests and the life of the mother." Why should a baby be killed because of a crime against the mother? What in this man's head makes him believe that two wrongs make a right? Lord, I wish we had a pro-life president. Pleas pray for this man's eyes to be opened!

Pianist Anthony Burger Dies

Pianist Anthony Burger of Cleveland died Wednesday night after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 44. Anthony was in the Caribbean aboard a Bill Gaither Homecoming cruise this week and it was during one of Wednesday's performances when he suffered the heart attack. A family spokesman said Burger was doing what he loved best, playing the piano, just before collapsing. Anthony is survived by his wife LuAnn, two sons, AJ and Austin; a daughter, Lori; his mother and father, Richard and Jean Burger; two brothers, Randy and Clinton Burger, and countless friends and loved ones.

South Dakota Senate Passes Abortion Ban
Thanks for the prayers . . . and thanks be to God! The South Dakota Senate has voted 23-12 to pass a total ban on abortion except in the rare case when the life of the mother is in danger. This is the best news the nation has heard in a long time, but we need to keep praying for the roadblocks to be cleared for this to pass and influence our whole country. The lives of millions of children are at stake.

South Dakota House Passes Ban on Abortion
In a direct challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the South Dakota House of Representatives easily passed a bill Feb. 9 that would ban nearly all abortions in the state.

The bill passed by a vote of 47-22 and now goes to the state Senate, where a vote is expected to be tight. Ten of the Senate's 35 members are sponsors. It is not known whether Gov. Mike Rounds, a pro-life Republican, would sign it.

Why do we have so few who are willing to stand up and so what is right. In times like these, the very least we can do is pray for the success of those who are willing to make a stand. We know our representatives in Washington wouldn't have the backbone to do this, but maybe South Dakota can make an impact for us. Please pray for the success of this bill. Alissa Update

Just a quick update . . . Alissa came home with Matt and Sissy on Thursday and all is going great. Matt is learning to change diapers and Alissa has easily learned how to capture everyone's attention. She and her parents were dedicated to the Lord on Sunday in a special service at Grace FWB Church in Memphis.

I have found something harder than leaving my daughter half way across the country . . . I left my daughter, my granddaughter, and my wife half way across the country and I am back home now. It was nice, however, to have Billy pick me up and give me a ride home. I'm looking forward to celebrating Cassie's first birthday on the 15th . . . My how time flies!

Praise God for his rich blessings! This morning we welcomed Alissa to the world at 4:59 am, weighing 7lbs 3oz, and measuring 18.5 inches. An easy delivery, a healthy baby and mother are all blessings from God. He has been so good to Matt and Sissy and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this time together!

Congress Asks White House to Allow Chaplain Prayer
From the sailing of the Mayflower, the signing of the Compact, the charters of the early colonies and all through our history, the faith of the United States of America was as always clear. The people, documents, institutions, educational establishments, courts and even our government have reflected a faith in God. Yes, we were founded as a Christian nation. We proved to be a Christian nation, not only in name, but in action. Observance of a Sabbath, the lifves that were lived in honor to Christ, and even the establishment of a system of government based on Biblical ideals spoke volumns about our faith. God has blessed us in ways that no other nation has ever seen.

Now, however, we see the tide turning. As the people of the United States turn their back on God and forget what Christ has done for us, our government continues to do the same. In this Christmas season where many prefer to deny Christ, our government is asking the same thing. During the past few years, many chaplains have felt continuing pressure and have even been ordered to not use the name of Christ in public. And what has the commander in chief, their leader done in response? NOTHING!

In a last-ditch effort to get Mr. Bush to change his mind, more than 160,000 petition signatures were delivered to the White House today. Several congressmen have agreed and are asking our president to allow these men of God to practice their faith. Now is the time to pray for our chaplains as we never have before. God have mercy and give grace to these men.
